Don’t let his petite size fool you; miniature donkey, Cisco, has a big presence wherever he goes. At shows people can’t help but notice our miniature hero; stealing the scene from everyone else.
It’s not just his small stature that draws the crowds at events; his fluffy coat makes him utterly adorable too.
Cisco truly believes he is bigger than he is and chooses the biggest boys in the herd to play with. Our donkeys Christopher, Shocks and Teddy love to play chase with him. Given the opportunity, he’ll also grab their lead ropes and take them on a walk around their yard and paddock.
Cisco sleeps in the same stable as the bigger donkeys, Jacko, Shocks and Rambo. He doesn’t take up much room, but he will make absolutely certain that he’s the second to last to go into the stable at night. Shocks and Jacko always go in first, and Rambo will follow him in. It’s the same order every night!
Bred in Texas, USA, as a carting donkey, Cisco is capable of pulling 1.5 times his weight, but his new job in Birmingham is the perfect one for this friendly boy. After arriving at The Donkey Sanctuary in 2008, he quickly earned his place as a member of the donkey assisted therapy team. His true strength lies in his character and his tremendous ability to be calm and patient with the people he meets.
Cisco loves the opportunity to travel. He’s led vast processions through the streets of Birmingham, lapping up the attention from the crowd and puffing out his little chest. He’s also the perfect donkey for taking on outreach visits to care homes, residential units, hospices and occasionally the children’s ward at Birmingham City Hospital. He’ll visit patients in their beds and will give them all his love and care. It’s good for him too, as he sneakily loves watching the TV and regularly catches up with his favourite shows when he’s out visiting!
If you’ve already adopted Cisco why not share this with your friends and family to show them just how lucky you are?
