A kitchen with a view

The Kitchen provides an impressive back drop to any event, with views over the sanctuary and the rolling hills of Devon to the sea. This new space projects a tranquil atmosphere enabling delegates to enjoy your event and relax as they network.

Perfectly situated to serve the whole of East Devon and West Dorset including Exeter, Axminster and Honiton. We are just a few minutes from Sidmouth and only 13 miles from Junction 30 of the M5.

Space to suit you

At The Donkey Sanctuary we will provide you with conference facilities and services to the highest standards. The Kitchen can be used equally well for conferences, seminars, training and team building exercises for up to 100 delegates.

The Kitchen can be booked for half a day (8.30am until 12.30pm or 1.00pm until 5.00pm), a full day (9.00pm until 5.00pm) or for an evening (From 5.30pm onwards).

Room hire includes:

Fine dining

Our head chef, Chris Morris, has produced a menu of local and ethically sourced produce with a team of chefs who have all been recruited from some of the finest restaurants in Devon. Included on our menu is a delicious range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Breakfast (9.30am until 10.30am)

  • Coffee, tea, jugs of fresh water and fruit juices
  • Continental and English buffet selection or pre-ordered individual hot breakfast dishes.

Based on a minimum of 10 delegates/guests.

Lunch buffet (11.30am until 2pm).

Buffet Menu A


  • Coronation chicken, black treacle glazed ham, lemon and herb roasted salmon
  • Tomato, basil and mozzarella arancini (Vegan adaptable)
  • Quiche x2 flavours (Vegetarian)


  • New potatoes
  • Mixed panache of season vegetables
  • Mixed salad and a couscous salad with a selection of dressings


  • Chocolate mousse with clotted cream
  • Raspberry cheesecake and meringue served with fruit coulis

Based on a minimum of 20 delegates/guests.

Buffet Menu B

  • Sandwiches with crisps and/or vegetable crisps
  • Chilli and coriander falafel with cucumber riata
  • Orange and fennel salmon crostini with pickled beetroot
  • Tomato and olive tart
  • Mushroom and feta burgers
  • Smoked ham hock and Cornish Jack croissants

Additional items

  • Potato wedges
  • Sausage rolls
  • Garlic ciabatta
  • Granola, yoghurt and compote
  • Heritage tomato and red onion salad
  • Hummus and crudités
  • Roasted/Buttered new potatoes

Stage equipment

The Kitchen can be equipped with screens, projectors, and all sorts of stage configurations and technology to suit your event, including public address systems, lighting and display systems.


The Kitchen and wider Sanctuary is covered by our wireless broadband network so you can browse the internet, collect and send emails, and conduct business while away from the office.

Fully licensed

The Kichen is able to offer a selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages or arrange for a full bar and waiting staff.
