Through my travels to James Roberts Foundation Station in Wiltshire with various horses over the years, I met Rachael Wild who unknown to me at the time had a hidden talent. She is an amazing artist.
Rachael recently gave up her job in graphic design to draw full time.
She has been asking me for a donkey photograph to draw for some time and then recently with more urgency as she has an Exhibition coming up called “Animals from the Heart.“ Rachael will be drawing ten different animals each will be linked to a nominated charity that will benefit from 10% of sales.
Rachael found a photograph of a donkey foal born at the Sanctuary on 6th May 2009 on the Sanctuary’s Flickr page. She was named Janet Thorne after a loyal supporter of the charity who had recently died. Her husband Peter has been a volunteer Welfare Officer in the Nottingham area for several years.
Rachael kept me updated with progress of the drawing, starting with the ears and we could all follow on the Sanctuary’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. A week later the drawing is finished and is simply stunning. It is being shared worldwide on Facebook as people are blown away by the end result.
A very lucky lady has bought the original for her 50th birthday by her husband, but limited edition prints in 2 sizes are available.
Rachael’s Exhibition runs from 11th - 27th July 2014 at the Old Mill Gallery, 7 Mill Road, Worton, Devizes SN10 5SF.
If you would like to order prints, please get in touch directly with Rachael on 07545 286914 or 01380 848326.
