My name is Jenny Armstrong. I’m studying for a PhD at Southampton University and I’m running the London Marathon for The Donkey Sanctuary next year.
I’ve always wanted to run a marathon and as I’m turning a quarter of a century next February I thought now’s the time to tackle the 26.2 mile epic challenge (I’m sure the 0.2 will be very significant on the day!).
I have run the Great North Run before and loved it but if someone had asked me to turn round and run back I would have collapsed on the floor! I’m by no means a born runner but I shall try my best for this brilliant cause.
Originally I’m from Leeds. I’ve seen first-hand the fantastic work of The Donkey Sanctuary’s assisted therapy centre in Eccup where they offer donkey riding therapy to children with additional needs and take donkeys on visits to schools and nursing homes. Their work makes a massive difference, so I’m committed to raising as much money as possible to help them carry on with their work.
I have a number of fundraising ideas up my sleeve. The first will be ‘Marathon Monday’ cake sales when I’ll be selling scrumptious brownies to my colleagues at university. Sadly I won’t be able to reach everyone with my cakes but you’re welcome to visit my JustGiving page and make a donation (or find out more about my training).
Please support me... I’ll need the encouragement once I swap extra Christmas pudding for the ‘Intermediate’ Virgin Marathon Training Plan at the end of December…
