Jacqui Methven volunteers to work with our donkeys on a regular basis and brought her Mum along on Mothering Sunday. Margaret has heard so much about the donkeys she wanted to come to see them herself.
So, it was wonderful on the Sunday morning when Jacqui said: ‘I am coming to collect you after lunch today Mum. Put on walking shoes and jeans. It’s a surprise’.
And so it was. Margaret had a wonderful afternoon among the donkeys. Talking to them, patting them and generally admiring the long-eared animals. She was keen to hear their stories as to how they arrived at The Donkey Sanctuary's holding base here at Hillhead.
Little Skye was the centre of attraction. Margaret was aghast at his tale and couldn’t believe how he managed to survive his ordeal. Skye on the other hand held court like a Prince enjoying all the attention. The other donkeys watched from their neighbouring loose boxes and too enjoyed a little pampering.
Margaret was thrilled with her afternoon and Jacqui left a handsome donation to The Donkey Sanctuary as her present to her Mum for Mothers’ Day.
