Gareth - our gorgeous little donkey, with a personality way beyond his size, is now very sight impaired.
We have been noticing that he is a little jumpy when visitors come to see him and even around the grooms that he knows and trusts.
On examination he is now almost completely blind. Luckily, Gareth knows his way around his environment very well and we will always respect his need to live right where he is now with his pals.
Donkeys are remarkably good at coping with sight loss as long as nothing changes in their home environment but we will all be especially careful to let him know we're approaching him and will give him any help he needs for as long as he needs it.
One thing that does seem to upset him is very bright light so to help him we would ask that you avoid any flash photography of this handsome chap when you pop by.
Please do come and visit him and just let him know you're there if he comes up to the fence to greet you.
Donkeys love a fairly quiet, calm voice and, of course, they understand every word you say as long as it's complementary!
Thank you for loving our special little boy - mind you it's not hard to love such a handsome chap!
