I took Charlie the donkey to a luncheon to honour Marjorie Newman’s 90th birthday where he was a surprise guest. Marjorie has supported The Donkey Sanctuary for many years, raising thousands of pounds at her Donkey Days in Lavenham, Suffolk.
Charlie, wearing a birthday greetings sash, presented Marjorie with a card from the team in Devon and walked around the hall greeting surprised lunch goers at the Salvation Army Hall.
Marjorie’s love of life and people has made her a much loved member of the Lavenham community and she will need all her boundless energy and enthusiasm to cope with the partying over the next week!
As this year it is not possible to hold our successful Suffolk Donkey Day at Lavenham Hall, Marjorie has insisted on taking over the mantle again and is to host a coffee morning at her home with tombola, raffle, bric a brac and an opportunity to meet star guests Jack and Skooby, two of Charlie’s friends. This will be held on the 22 August so please come along and support us if you are in the area.
Thank you, Marjorie, for your love of donkeys and continuing support of our work. See you in 10 years' time for the Century!
