Most of us will be getting into the Christmas spirit (well, maybe not too much of the alcoholic kind!) and now seemed the perfect moment to show you foster donkey Gee all geared up to enjoy himself... especially as 15 year old Maisie, who looks after Gee and Walsh, made a wonderful edible wreath which was hung on the front door of their house before being given to two delighted boys!
I have just returned from a couple of days staying in Sidmouth, Devon where I visited the Sanctuary and saw Rocky, Darcy and Heathcliff, three of my own former donkeys. All seemed very happy and I would like to thank the brilliant grooms on the farms who give them so much care and love.
Darcy is probably in his late 20s now but Jen, who clearly adores him, was telling me what a character he is and how they have been using him on the donkey care courses run by the Sanctuary's training centre because he is so good with people.
So all that remains is for me to wish my wonderful foster owners and donkey lovers everywhere a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Let us hope that 2014 will be a happier place for the many working donkeys around the world and that the work of The Donkey Sanctuary continues to improve their lives and make a difference.
Special thanks to Maisie for sending us her photo of Gee and the edible wreath she made for Gee and Walsh.
