Yesterday we had the grand opening of Grace's swing and playground at our donkey assisted therapy centre here in Leeds. We were joined by Grace's parents, grandparents, her classmates, friends and support staff from Ireland Wood Primary School, lots of staff and volunteers from the Sanctuary, as well as a Yorkshire Evening Post reporter and photographer.
Grace’s special classmate, Sienna Shorto, was the first to try out the swing followed by the rest of her classmates. The swing which bears the legend "Smile and Swing with Grace" delighted all the children and there were definitely plenty of smiles!
We also presented Grace's family with a framed photograph of a donkey foal who was born in July 2013 to a donkey called Beauty that came into the Sanctuary's care already in foal.
This beautiful little foal has been officially named Grace McLoughlin in Grace's memory who sadly died in March. The family were delighted and said that they couldn't think of a more fitting living memorial to her life.
A huge thank you to Grace’s Wish for donating this fabulous swing and making it a memorable morning.
