Roger has been at the Sanctuary since 2006 when his owners kindly retired him from beach work. He is such a character and likes to be involved with everything we do.
One day we were in the barn with a poorly donkey and we took our cups of tea with us to keep us warm while we waited for a vet to arrive. That's when we discovered Roger's love for tea. We were huddled under a heat lamp trying to keep warm and Roger made a bee line for us! He dunked his muzzle right in our tea and lifted the cup in the air on his own. Next thing we knew all our tea had gone and Roger was looking for more! When the vet arrived we asked if it was OK for Roger to have consumed a whole cup of tea and she said at the grand age of 27 she was sure a cup in and out wouldn't cause him any harm!
Roger is so popular among staff at Paccombe Farm as he has such an infectious personality. Roger and his friends are very pleased that the summer is on its way and they are enjoying the sun on their backs out in the fields. If you would like to meet Roger why not join us for International Donkey Week.
