Sunday 7th April saw the return of our popular Family Fun Day and what a day it was! Building on last year’s event, the day was action packed throughout, with plenty for visitors to see and do. Despite the cold wind, the weather stayed dry and hundreds of people enjoyed a fun filled day of activities in and around the Slade Centre.
With the gates opening at 11am, the car park areas soon began to fill with eager faced visitors who were excited to get involved and start exploring.
Karizma Majorettes kick-started the morning with their energetic performance in the main arena and really got the crowd going with their dazzling routines. Shortly after the tug of war competition took place, where some local teams went head to head for the win, with Anstey just piping the others to the title! As lunch time approached it was the turn of Just Dogs to take centre stage, and they certainly wowed onlookers, both two and four legged, with their fantastic dog agility display.
As always the Family Dog Show proved popular with lots of proud owners entering their dogs into at least one of the many classes during the afternoon. The adoption donkeys were also happy to be part of the day, meeting visitors as they passed by, and encouraging them to meet their friends in their nearby yard. Other activities on the day included a donkey Easter egg hunt, bouncy castle, face painting, children’s games, variety of stalls, tombola, cash pot, BBQ, refreshments and bar to mention just a few...
On the day the event raised over £2,100, with money still coming in, which is a fantastic result! All profits raised from this event will go towards our Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre here in Sidmouth.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped and supported towards this event, it wouldn’t be possible without you. Also a massive thank you to those who came along and supported the event as a visitor, it was fantastic to see some familiar faces and lots of new ones too.
