On my return from Italy, I stepped straight in to my new job role as the administrator for the Events and Activities team. It was a manic week to start as it was slap-bang in the middle of the Easter holidays; however it was great for me to be able to see firsthand the events that we hold during holidays at the Sanctuary.
The Donkey Dudes event was really popular, despite the bad weather, with children lining up for a chance to interact with our lovely events team donkeys.
Our first Secret Picnic went very well, but unfortunately the one we had lined up for yesterday had had to be cancelled due to the bad weather, therefore we’re quickly organising a ‘Fun Zone’ experience for the visitors in Box 16 – it was two and a half hours of fun, with games like giant jenga and giant snakes and ladders, Lucky the donkey also put in an appearance.
Last week we were granted a wedding licence too, which will be a fantastic new venture for the Sanctuary and Claire in the events team is working very hard to make sure couples will have an unforgettable, magical wedding day with the donkeys! We are also hosting our first wedding fair here on the 5th May.
One series of events I am really looking forward to is Bray and Stay where you can come and camp overnight with the donkeys, and get hands-on helping with their care bright and early the next morning! From working at Town Barton, I am used to the early morning routine; however this one comes with a HUGE breakfast at the end, so I am hoping to help with that!
There is a lot more information about all of our events on the calendar of events on the website.
This role looks sure to be an exciting one for me to get stuck into and I cannot wait to get to experience the other upcoming events throughout the year!
