During my visit to Romania I was privileged to meet British Ambassador for Romania, Martin Harris, and his wife Linda MacLachlan (plus daughter Tabitha and their two cats!) at their residence in Bucharest to talk about their experiences of our Romanian projects.
Quite apart from the genuine and warm welcome that they gave me, I was most pleased to hear their enthusiasm for our work. They have spent time at our Sanctuary meeting our staff and rescued donkeys and were sincerely supportive of the vital service that we provide.
Martin says: “I find it very inspiring, the care and attention that are given to the donkeys and the fact that we give something back to animals that have given so much in their lives to serve people. Now the people are serving the donkeys, so it’s a very happy and special place.”
Linda also attended the opening of our donkey assisted therapy project at the Don Orione orphanage in Bucharest.
Linda says: “It is an absolutely inspiring project for Romania because it brings together these two vulnerable groups in society, these previously mistreated donkeys and these children with additional needs and creates this wonderful partnership from which, I think, both are benefitting.”
Thank you to Martin and Linda for meeting with me and for their support of our projects.
