We wanted to share with you a photo of Kevin arriving at his new foster home in Gloucestershire. He was delighted to arrive and find two beautiful lady donkeys waiting to greet him.
Kevin is a 6 year old hinny and has been living at Town Barton Farm for about a year. A hinny has a donkey mother and a pony father, therefore generally has the body of a donkey and the extremities of a horse or pony, they are less vocal than mules and they tend to be more donkey-like in behaviour which makes them quieter to handle.
We knew when we first met him that we had to find him a foster home, as he was so people oriented, and loves cuddles.
When we heard that a potential foster owner was coming to visit the farm, we immediately thought of Kevin, and we were delighted when he walked up and approached his new owner to introduce himself.
Kevin had a difficult start in life; he was abandoned on an allotment and was going to be put to sleep as he was not welcome there. Luckily a lady rescued him and took him in to her care where she gave him all the care he needed before signing him over to the Sanctuary for a secure future.
Given his difficult start, he is a wonderful character and we wish him well in his new home.
