Take your minds back to almost 3 years ago when Paul Frostwick from Norfolk asked his girlfriend Sally to marry him... After being together for 9 years, Paul decided he wanted to pop the question to Sally with the help of Teddy (left) and Sally (right), two donkeys he had seen during previous visits.
"Sally used to work for an equine rescue centre in Norfolk and she was spending as much time with them as possible, grooming, etc. When we have visited the Sanctuary in the past, I knew this would be the place to pop the question when the time came due to the relaxed and general good feel that I had whilst at the Sanctuary."
A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from Paul to say they would be coming back down to Devon for a holiday so we arranged to meet up and finalise a time once they were here. So it was a lovely surprise yesterday while I was out taking photos that someone tapped me on my shoulder and a voice behind said "Remember me?"
It was hugs all round as we remembered the day Paul popped the question. Sally had no idea when she arrived that day with Paul and their friends (who were in on the surprise) that staff had been helping to set up the special occasion. Paul had arranged for flowers to be delivered to the Visitors' Centre and Teddy had been given the responsibility of holding the engagement ring on a beautiful purple ribbon tied in a bow around his neck.
Sitting out in the sunshine by the Hayloft Restaurant enjoying a pot of tea and lunch, it was great to hear Paul and Sally talk about their wedding plans while donkeys brayed all around us. It just brought a magical feeling to their happiness.
Being a dog-friendly place to visit, Paul and Sally brought their two dogs to see the donkeys - Archie (left) and Dolly (right). I wonder if they will be at their wedding in 10 weeks' time?
Join me in wishing both Paul and Sally all the best for their wedding and future happiness together.
