Take a look at my new shoes... don't they just sparkle?
It was my turn this week for an appointment with Colin our farrier. He's so charming you know and is beginning to get into the Christmas spirit by adding a touch of glitter to us long-ears who wear plastic shoes.
Here I am stepping out into the main yard showing off my green glitter shoes... and who should I find on walkabout... none other than David Cook, who's the big cheese here. I made sure he saw me and dazzled him with my highly fashionable new shoes!
Not a lot people know this, but David has been a "donkey weeker" for literally donkeys years and has been Chief Executive here at the Sanctuary since 2007. All the lovely donkey weekers are assigned a donkey when they've been coming along to Donkey Week for 10 years (David's long-ear is called David too!). Not only that, they're given a red sweatshirt and I can tell you the Sanctuary is a mass of red during their annual trip to see us each May.
How do you spot a donkey weeker's donkey I hear you ask? Well, check our collars (red for a boy, yellow for a girl) and look out for "DW" after our names.
If you've never been to Donkey Week, why not come and meet me next year and all my donkey friends - we'd love all your cuddles. Everyone is just so friendly and the donkey weekers are such a warm and lovely family of friends.
But before then... a note for your diaries. Tune into the mainbarn webcam on Friday 10th December 2010 and listen to us braying while hundreds of visitors sing along to Christmas carols in and around our barn. How exciting!
