It was a lovely day for a walk around the Sanctuary and who should I see, but Ravelin and Skippy, 2 of the 18 donkeys that were rescued in 2009 following a complaint initiated by our welfare officers in Yorkshire. Sadly not one of these donkeys had a name so we invited our supporters to enter a competition giving "The gift of a name this Christmas".
How they have changed since I last saw them back in November 2009 when all 18 donkeys arrived into our care. It was lovely to see these two happily galloping around their paddock together with the other youngsters - that was until they heard the click-click of the camera and came over for a closer look before galloping off together!
Ravelin was born on 4th September 2009 and his mother is Precious who had long, neglected feet when she was rescued.
Skippy was born on 29th August 2009 and is growing well and is quite an independent foal for her age. Her mother is called Poppy.
Both Ravelin and Skippy were born in the safety of the RSPCA and now have a permanent home here at the Sanctuary with their mothers.
If you are visiting the Sanctuary, take a walk to Shelter 2 to see Ravelin and Skippy as well as the other mares and foals.
