Our Derbyshire Centre held its first open day of the year on Sunday 4th April and I am pleased to report that it was a huge success!
We were supported with free publicity from our local newspapers and two local radio stations which was a great help and on the day, over 200 people turned up, all eager to meet our adorable donkeys!
Chris Pile (manager) and his team of staff and volunteers were all on hand to show people around, tell the story of individual donkeys and answer all sorts of questions. Previously, they’d been busy baking cakes for one of the fundraising stalls!
Whilst people enjoyed a hot drink and a cake in the training room, we played our new promotional film, The Donkey Sanctuary... 40 years on, which gives a definitive insight into our charity’s worldwide work.
If you were one of our supporters or friends who came along on the day, thank you so much for taking the time to visit, we hope you enjoyed it and we would love to invite you back again for a future donkey-fix!
Our next open day is on Sunday 6th June and everyone is invited! Find more details on our website nearer the time!
