What a difference The Donkey Sanctuary has made to the lives of Laurel and Hardy!
Just over a month ago, they arrived in a terrible state and Laurel’s red-raw bald patch with fur hanging off will forever stay in my memory. They were crawling in lice, skin and bone and just a real sorry state to be in.
But loving care by our experts including Joy who has featured in my video entries, have all worked extremely hard to bring these neglected donkeys back to health.
This picture was taken, this week, of them grazing in their new paddock at Newton Farm, where they continue to be cared for until they are fit enough to return to our main Sanctuary in Sidmouth. I was amazed by it! They look absolutely beautiful, like they have been with us for years. Their coats are shiny, you can hardly see those bony ribs and they are doing what donkeys enjoy the most – grazing away in the sunshine – something they couldn’t enjoy when being shut in a stable 24/7 which is how we found them.
Wonderful; just wonderful. I hope you all agree?
