During a recent visit Town Barton Farm, one of our outlying farms on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park, I was handed this video clip from Elizabeth, one of the grooms who help care for our rescued charges there.
It shows footage of some of the mules, and donkeys, going out to grass (we call it turnout) for the first time earlier this year and it is truly delightful to watch. There are over 170 donkeys on this farm and a further 100 mules.
For those of you who don't know - a mule is the result of breeding between a female horse and a male donkey.
We are currently looking for experienced homes to foster some of our mule pairs. If you are serious about taking on the care of mules and would like further information, please contact the welfare pages.
