It hardly seems like a year has past before all the donkey weekers are meeting again and almost picking up conversations they were having with each other this time last year.
As a donkey weeker myself, I am always keen to help out now that I am a member of staff and for the second year, I volunteered to look after those staying at the Ryton Guest House in Sidmouth. I must admit to being a little apprehensive last year, but the 'regular' donkey weekers who stay at the Ryton, made me feel welcome!
The coach arrived on time and we all climbed aboard for the short journey from Sidmouth to the Sanctuary where we made our way to the Main Yard where Dr Elisabeth Svendsen, our Founder, welcomed everyone to Donkey Week. She summed up the week in one sentence "Donkey Week is all about donkeys and their love of you."
Today was packed full of talks and presentations about the Sanctuary's work both in Europe and overseas as well as tractor rides and of course donkeys!
