Just the weather for walking donkeys! Today I was out taking photos of the 10 people who had come along to the Sanctuary on one of our Donkey carer days. It was lovely to meet such lovely people from all walks of life. While I was taking photos, I found out that some of them had been visiting the Sanctuary regularly for over 15 years, even though they lived great distances.
I turned up early to take photos and wondered if I had gone to the wrong place as there was no sign of donkeys. I went and had a look in their barn, but still no sign ... eventually I found them all standing in the shade round the back. I like to think that was the reason and not hiding from everyone!
While I waited I made myself useful by mucking out the donkeys' hardstanding area. Being a donkey owner, there's certain jobs you do automatically and seeing a wheelbarrow and shovel close by, it wasn't long before I was getting on with the job.
The 10 donkey carers arrived and each found their donkey and began grooming them. One by one, they walked over to have their photograph taken before the whole group gathered to head off on a donkey walk.
What a sight to see ... 10 very happy donkey carers and 10 very happy donkeys enjoying the Devon sunshine together!
