Training is progressing, I have been out for a long run, practising around the Sanctuary and part of the course that will be included in the Grizzly, down to the beach and back up through Weston. I am reminded what a beautiful walk it is (one of the walks around the Sanctuary) so if you've ever got an hour when you are visiting the Sanctuary give it a go, but perhaps don't try to run back up the hill.
While I was making my way back up the hill and doing a little bit of suffering of my own, it did occur to me that it was of my own free will and that I was equipped with well-fitting running shoes and the right clothing for the situation.
Sadly the donkeys I am running for, having seen them in Egypt, have to work regardless of their physical condition, often in ill-fitting tack or in pain and this reminded me of why I am running and the importance of our Sanctuary from Suffering campaign which is being launched this year.
Again, I am very grateful to those people who have already donated through my JustGiving fundraising page and every pound really does help make a difference to donkeys that really need it.
