After a very busy week judging Britain's Best Beach Donkey competition, our press office announced the winners today.
It wasn't long before the press phones were ringing with reporters wanting more information to write their stories.Dawn Vincent passed a few of these on who wanted live interviews for their radio programmes. Having never done this before, it seemed quite daunting, but all the people I spoke to put me at ease and I found myself forgetting that there was an audience the other end!
It was also an important day for me today because today was the day our new website went live after many months of redesign and development. Since joining the Sanctuary in October of last year as web editor, I along with many others both here and from our projects overseas, have contributed new content. Do take a look and join in any discussions, or just send us your comments on a story.
The day was dampened when I received a call from Alex over in the Veterinary Department. You may remember when I joined, my own two donkeys (Lady and Little Pippa) came to live at the Sanctuary. For some time, Lady has had foot problems causing her quite a bit of pain. The vets decided that the best thing to do was to give her some box rest and in the morning move her to the veterinary hospital to take some x-rays of her feet. There were also changes in her liver enzymes too, so the vets would carry out tests at the same time. Little Pippa will be there with Lady all the time keeping her company. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried.
Before going home, I popped along to see them both down on the Main Yard to give them a cuddle each. While I was there, a family on holiday from South Africa came over to see Lady and gave her some extra TLC.
