Share your wishes, memories and dreams and we’ll add them to Mother’s Tree, here at the heart of The Donkey Sanctuary.
The Donkey Sanctuary was founded in 1969 by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE, often called ‘Mother’ by our supporters. She dedicated her life to champion donkeys and mules, and it is through her devotion that the Sanctuary grew to be the international charity it is today.
In celebration of her life we have launched our first ever Founder’s Day on Saturday 29th March 2014.
Can you help?
To mark the occasion we are also introducing a new appeal to help convert one of our large barns at Trow Farm, Sidmouth, into new donkey housing. Our farms and Sanctuaries are close to capacity with almost 900 donkeys rescued across Europe in the last year alone.
We urgently need space to provide sanctuary from suffering for these new members of our family, can you help?
For a suggested donation of £3 share your dreams, wishes and memories and we will hang them on ‘Mother’s Tree’ as a lasting memorial celebrating the life of ‘Mother’.
By participating you will know that, like Dr Svendsen, you are providing much needed protection from suffering for donkeys and mules across the world.
Here's to those that change the world
We are delighted to share this beautiful and compelling film with you. Elisabeth Svendsen was an incredible lady. The magnitude of what she managed to do seems to have been captured in this film perfectly and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
