We always enjoy receiving letters of support and are often touched when we open letters in memory of a love one, just like this letter from Gerald Law who recently wrote to us sharing memories of his wife Carol.
I became involved with The Donkey Sanctuary through my late wife, Carol. Carol was concerned at the plight of these lovely creatures, who she found to be gentle and friendly. Over the years Carol enjoyed following the work of The Donkey Sanctuary and adopted several donkeys.
Sadly, Carol was taken from me at the end of November 2014. Rather than spending money on floral tributes, I asked the mourners to make a contribution to the work of The Donkey Sanctuary. I was touched when the amount raised was £172 and I like to think that the support this money will give will be a fitting memorial to Carol.
When I sorted out Carol's affairs I decided that another way of carrying on her memory would be to continue her support of The Donkey Sanctuary in my name - so this is what I have done. I also plan to leave a legacy to The Donkey Sanctuary.
Carol was a gentle, caring and generous person and the world is a sadder place now that she is no longer with us, but I am comforted in the thought that while her generosity continues she is not really gone.
On behalf of all our donkeys and staff, we would like to thank all of Carol's family and friends for making a donation in memory which will help us continue our work. We would also like to thank Gerald for his continued support - a wonderful tribute to carry on Carol's support of her love of donkeys.
