It was great to travel to Town Barton this April, one of eight farms owned by The Donkey Sanctuary in Devon, and home to over 250 rescued mules and donkeys. The farm is nestled in the rolling hills of Tedburn St Mary near Exeter, where you can see spectacular views of Devonshire countryside for miles around.

It’s lovely to see donkeys from The Donkey Sanctuary foster scheme settling in well at their new homes. Billy, aged 5, and O’Mally, aged 7, have been fostered by Caroline Paxford since March this year, and were lucky enough to enjoy the delights of a new rope toy.

Spring is finally upon us, with daffodils slowly emerging, the sun shining in the sky, and donkeys braying in the open countryside. For the donkeys at Woods Farm they couldn’t wait to finally place their hooves on the rolling hills of Devon and gallop excitedly with their friends across the spacious fields.

We are delighted to share this beautiful and compelling film with you. It has been produced and kindly donated to The Donkey Sanctuary by design and brand company The Allotment in memory of our Founder, Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE.

For those that aren’t familiar with my recent blogs, I’m taking part in the multi-terrain coastal Grizzly run in March. I started my training after Christmas by doing a few gentle jogs and now I’ve steadily increased my distance to a 15 mile run which I completed – just! on Saturday (20th) January.

What was once a hay storage building has now been converted into a spacious, delightful new home for donkeys. Due to the increasing number of donkeys waiting to come into our care, our farm managers urgently needed to make space for them. I followed the development of Kennel Barn and thoroughly enjoyed talking to the staff and seeing the hard work they’ve all put in.
