Welcome to the website of The Donkey Sanctuary in Ireland. The Sanctuary is part of the UK registered charity The Donkey Sanctuary which was founded by Dr. Elisabeth Svendsen MBE in 1969 (registed as a charity in 1973). As with our sanctuary in the UK, we aim to give each of our donkeys all the loving care and attention they may need for the rest of their lives.

Oliver had been abandoned and tied up tightly when our staff at our Sanctuary in Ireland found him.

We were appalled that he had been left to fend for himself and his long hooves were agonisingly painful for him to walk on.
