When do you help?
Wednesday Evenings and Fridays
What do you do to help?
I groom the donkeys, support the children or lead the donkeys during riding sessions and help in the kitchen on occasions.
Do you enjoy this voluntary work?
I really enjoy spending time with the staff and other volunteers and I have made some really nice friends here. It is somewhere nice to go and has a lot to offer.
Does one particular incident stick in your mind as being special?
There is a little boy who at first, was very anxious about riding the donkeys - he used to cry and sob. You should see him now. He has become really confident on the donkeys, he smiles and has just blossomed and to me that is 100% success. I just saw a transformation in this child and it was wonderful to be a part of.
Our Manchester Centre is supported by around 60 volunteers. They are the first line givers of encouragement and assistance in the lesson. In short, they are invaluable - without them the centres could not function.
If you can spare a day, or even half a day, and would like to become a volunteer at Manchester, please contact our Principal, Debbie Coombes. |
