Marie Ellis, a volunteer at EST Leeds

Name:

Marie Ellis

Status:

Retired

Centre:

EST Leeds

When do you help?

Helps out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

What do you do to help?

I do everything apart from leading the donkeys, as they tend to lead me! I help support the children whilst riding and chat to them.

Do you enjoy this voluntary work?

Yes, so much so, that I now visit two days per week. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping out here and it's nice as I have made friends with other volunteers. It is a lovely atmosphere and it's very rewarding to see the children make improvements.

Does one particular incident stick in your mind as being special?

A recent music day that we held here jointly with another organisation for the children was just brilliant. I was so impressed with all the thought that had gone into the day and everyone joined in. It was lovely.

Our Leeds Centre is supported by around 28 volunteers. They are the first line givers of encouragement and assistance in the lesson. In short, they are invaluable - without them the centres could not function.

If you can spare a day, or even half a day, and would like to become a volunteer at Leeds, please contact our Principal, Allison Mann.
