Children's VisitsVisiting Schools
The Education and Activities Unit visiting a school

We usually bring 4 donkeys each accompanied by a member of staff. We work with approximately 30 children (eg one class) per session, which lasts approximately half an hour.

Our programme is adapted to the age group of each class and may therefore vary slightly in context.
If you wish our visit to support any particular part of the National Curriculum, please make this known at the time of booking. However, a support pack containing donkey-related material will be given to each class teacher participating in these educational sessions.

Schools with more than 220 pupils (or 7 classes) will need to book two consecutive days, to ensure that every child has the opportunity to be included in our educational sessions.

We would be delighted if children wish to bring a treat for the donkeys to eat. However; in the interest of safety, these cannot be given until the end of the days visit and then by being placed on the ground in front of the donkey.

  • Apples (cut into pieces)
  • Carrots (suitably cut-up)
  • Ginger nut biscuits
  • Peppermints (not chewy)
