We are now just a month away from our Leeds Summer Fair (8th July 2012). The Summer Fair has continued to grow in popularity and last year, we welcomed in excess of 3,000 visitors to the event. This year’s Fair promises to be bigger and better than ever before! Here is a taster of what there is to look forward to!

The main arena presentation is Galloping Acrobatics.

“From the minute Galloping Acrobatics enter the arena you will be mesmerised by the remarkable feats of gymnastic, acrobatic and equestrian skill on display. Gaze in awe as Tinker thunders past with Rosie standing on his back. Laugh as Casper catches things in his mouth before admiring his high stepping Spanish walk. Watch in amazement as Tinker skips around the arena with a giant five metre skipping rope. Tell a joke to Casper – will he laugh or shake his head in shame? The incredible level of communication between Rosie and her horses will have you enthralled from start to finish. Following each display a twenty minute meet and greet session allows for you to ask questions and interact with all performers – human and equine!”

There will also be a karate demonstration from Martial Arts for Life.

The ever popular Fun Dog Show starts at 12pm with 10 classes to show off your dog! The Fun Dog Agility course will be open all day from 11am to 4pm. There will be a professional photographer on site and the opportunity to purchase photos of you and your dog or perhaps your favourite donkey.

Ther will be lots of attractions such as the Donkey World gift stand, Tombola, Lucky Bottle, Toys, Books, Bric a Brac and not forgetting our unique Adopt a Donkey stand. The Summer Fair raffle has the most fantastic range of over 20 prizes kindly donated by local businesses, including a night’s stay for two at The Metropole Hotel, Leeds, a round of golf for 4 people at Headingley Golf Course and a family ticket to the Jorvik Viking Centre. Buy your tickets on the day to be in with a chance of winning!

There is a wide range of craft stands attending the event including sand art painting, cupcakes, plants and garden accessories, Cool Fabrics, Fancy That Preserves, handmade jewellery, scarves and handbags, children’s books and greetings cards, gift wrap and gift ideas.

The children will be kept busy by all the activities and entertainment available. We have bungee trampolines, a range of inflatables, Thomas the Tank Engine train, Zorb Balls and Go Karts to name just a few! Our donkeys will be giving cart rides too.

If you’re feeling hungry after all this activity, there’s plenty to tickle the taste buds from our own cafe and our barbecue in addition to a sandwich bar and Italian produce and drinks. The meat for the barbecue is once again being kindly provided by Clive Stevens and Dawn Ackroyd of Cranswick Foods. This is the fourth year that Cranswick Foods have donated produce and we thank them hugely for their ongoing support.

If you are able to help in any way, either by donating good quality items for the tombola, lucky bottle, books, toys or bric a brac stands or if you would like to help on the day, please get in touch by calling 0113 261 9249.

The staff at our Leeds assisted riding-therapy centre look forward to enjoying the Summer Fair with you.
