Simply donkeys... just for you!

Huwie's playtime antics!

As we come to the end of 2011, we've put together a compilation of images taken at the Sanctuary to thank you all for your support throughout the year.

Whilst 2011 brought us sadness with the loss of Elisabeth Svendsen, the joy of new life was born to mares who came into our care already in foal.

Since the beginning of this year over 500 donkeys and mules have come through our gates all being given sanctuary for life. Many of them have come from much loved homes but due to the financial climate, their owners were faced with an incredibly hard decision to part with them.

With your support we are able to provide care to our ever growing family of 2,400 donkeys and mules spread across eight farms in Devon, Dorset and Derbyshire.

On behalf of all our donkeys and staff we would like to wish you all a happy Christmas.

The music accompanying this video is called "I'm still here" performed by Reasoner published under the Creative Commons Licence.

It has been said many times that our lives are a gift from God - that what we do with them is our gift in return. Today is the perfect day to watch this presentation and to remember this.

That was gorgeous, fair bought a lump to my throat and the foals were just beyond beautiful.

The film is lovely. Very appropriate to finish with a picture of Elisabeth Svendsen who is hopefully in heaven with her wonderful donkeys.

What a Lovely film, you have brightened my day thank you.

Merry christmas to you all and all the donkeys in your care.

What a lovely film, together with the music I found it very touching. Each and every donkey is a beautiful creature with their own distinct personality. Dr S, what a woman to begin this journey and I am sure she will be looking down and will be filled with confidence that the work she began will always continue.
Thank you for such a lovely film. xxxxx

Yet again the tears are flowing it was beautiful to watch . I find them such gentle but sometimes funny animals but God bless them all . Mrs S and her wonderful dream so long ago may she always watch over and protect you wonderful workers long may you all carry on the work she started.

Can't believe I forgot how amazing Donks are!! All these pics were beautiful, loved the baby in the blue coat! I wonder how many donks are at the sanctuary? Probably hundreds I'm guessing! The music almost made me cry, even though the video and pictures weren't sad at all. Just beautiful - all i can think of to describe it. :-)
