For the first time this year, we welcomed a group of animal lovers who were here for the whole day having lots of fun grooming and walking donkeys, as well as getting hands-on experience with mucking out as part of our Donkey carer for a day experience.
The day started with a welcome and health and safety chat before it was time for them to roll up their sleeves and muck out the donkeys' stables. After refreshments and an informal talk about the work of the Sanctuary, they spent almost two hours of quality time with the donkeys in the sunshine while they groomed and took them for a walk.

After lunch, it was time to make their own plastic donkey collars followed by a unique tour of the Sanctuary, some areas of which are not normally open to the general public.
There was still work to do after the tour as it was time to make up feeds for some of our donkeys requiring more specialist care.
After all that, the donkey carers were able to sit and enjoy their own afternoon Devon Cream Tea before it was to to go home taking with them fond memories of their day and having made new friends.
