The Donkey Sanctuary is passionate about educating the public on the importance of donkey welfare and the charity’s worldwide work. We want to inspire the next generation of donkey carers and do this by having a dedicated education team who provide a wide variety of learning opportunities that can be tailored to the specific abilities and interests of visiting groups.
On their visit to the Sanctuary, groups including schools, Scouts and Guides, nurseries and youth groups have the opportunity to get to know our specially trained team of donkeys who have lots of experience of working with children.
Visits can include:
- A tour of the Sanctuary allowing children to learn how we keep the donkeys healthy and why they live here
- Groom and walk a donkey
- Find out about the work of the veterinary, dentistry and farrier team
- Discover The Donkey Sanctuary’s work across the world including Mexico, Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya and India
- Interactive sessions including crafts and games in our all weathers classroom space
- Spot some of the local wildlife on one of the Sanctuary’s signposted walks and get lost in the beautiful beech maze
