Since we welcomed new foals into our donkey ‘nursery’ in April, and we all enjoyed watching little skewbald foal Christian literally running rings around his mum Honey, I have been desperate for the chance to pay them another visit and see how they are getting on.
That chance came last week. The sun was out, the camera was charged and I was more than ready to spend the afternoon playing catch up with some little foals who probably weren’t going to be as little as the last time I saw them.
Once the initial interest in a new person – and more importantly, camera and tripod – had passed, the mums and foals settled down to the real business of the afternoon, eating and dozing.
As I think you’ll discover in the following video, things were a lot calmer on this visit to the nursery compared to the fun and frolics of earlier in the year.
Something tells me a repeat visit may be in order in the not too distant future, just to make sure they are all still getting their recommended daily allowance of afternoon naps of course! The foals, although, to quote grandmothers everywhere ‘haven’t they grown!’, are still just as adorable.
